In the mean time go ahead and scope out DISCIPLE’s synopsis again: There’s a short list of 10 young, talented genre directors with plans to sign one in the next 30 days. STRANGELAND: DSICIPLE is looking to be a lot larger than the original film and will be able to stand alone if needed. Robert Kurtzman will be doing special effects with hopes on bringing in Michael Burnett as well. STRANGELAND: DISCIPLE’s budget will be $5 million while the original film was made for only $1.1 million. Debbie Rochon, Dee Snider (above) and Robert Englund will all be in the film with hopes on bringing back others such as Amy Smart (below), Linda Cardellini and Kevin Gage. Snider spilled all kinds of STRANGELAND info including a comparison to THE ROAD WARRIOR, a response to the ‘one year later’ bit in the synopsis, what they’re looking for in a director, a load of DISCIPLE details, a look at Snider’s pre-production process, Robert Englund and countless other things! Their exact words were, "We want to make the sequel." But getting it from there into movie theaters is going to be a long fucking road.Things have really picked up for STRANGELAND: DISCIPLE in the past couple of months haven’t they? First we hear that the film is being made and then we get a full synopsis and cast list. government seized the property and arrested the CFO of The Shooting Gallery, the production company who made the first "Strangeland." So I was in court fighting to get my property back for 5 fucking years! I did finally get it back this past year and now Lions Gate Entertainment says that they'd like to pick it up. In an interview with Metal Sludge he tells them that he wants to make a Strangeland sequel. Well Snider isn’t done with his quest to become a horror genre icon. The movie only made $2 million in 1998, today that would probably be 10 or 20, depending on how much gore they slipped past the censors. It’d fit pretty comfortably in between Zombie’s stuff and Hostel. ![]() He’s caught, cured, and released but soon reverts to his old ways and sets out looking for revenge. A sicko named Captain Howdy (played by Snider) lures teens into painful traps and bloody rituals. Torture porn is a mainstay in modern theaters and that’s really what it was. I have a weird feeling that Strangeland would have done better were it released today. Strangeland wasn’t exactly a success, but for a brief while there Snider’s name kept popping up whenever anyone was talking horror movies.
